During a chronic illness flare-up, I need to be especially mindful of my depression symptoms. At times, I medicate with indicas that target my body pain. Other times when my depression symptoms increase, I go for bright sativas that keep me energized, uplifted and creative. This way, even if I’m confined to my bed, I can still keep my mind busy. This helps keep my depression symptoms at bay. I focus on my mental health just as much as my physical health, and try to not let my symptoms drag me into a depressive state. Sometimes I succeed, and other times I don’t. Either way, each time I do is a small victory, and small victories equal progress.
